Paul is a captivating storyteller and a skillful listener. His exceptional listening skills have made him the storyteller he is today.
Paul grew up in Central Kansas, attended Hesston Academy, and graduated from Hesston College and Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. His Masters of Social Work degree was from the University of Nebraska.
His social work career began in Fairbanks, Alaska followed by more than thirty years at the Prairie View Mental Health Center in Newton, Kansas.
In 1994, he began to serve as a frequent volunteer with Mennonite Disaster Service, and has served 20 years on the board of directors of Mennonite Disaster Service. He also played a role in the development of the Disaster Management Program at Hesston College. He serves as a frequent resource for the program and it is not uncommon to hear students of the program refer to him as the chainsaw master.
