Lesli Remaly-Netter, DLT Advisory Committee
FEMA IV, Senior Voluntary Agency Liaison, Mass Care and Emergency Services Specialist
Over the past 17 years, Lesli Remaly has worked in emergency management with special emphasis on recovery and voluntary agency partner engagement. She has responded to disasters across the country, from Alaska to Puerto Rico. Lesli began her service with FEMA in April 2011, as an Emergency Management Program Specialist – Voluntary Agency Liaison (VAL) (Region IV) in Atlanta. As the Senior VAL and Mass Care-Emergency Assistance Lead, she has represented FEMA on national, regional and local working groups. She has provided technical support, training and information to the State Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) and local faith and community based organizations.
Prior to working for FEMA, Lesli worked for the American Red Cross and the Coordinated Assistance Network (CAN) as Senior Officer Community and Deployment Support. Lesli provided organizational leadership for a broad-based network of over 1,400 agencies. This work included the expansion of a suite of web-based tools, referred to as CAN, in states and territories. The major focus of her work was providing critical recovery tools for communities through the work of VOAD and Long Term Recovery Groups (LTRG).
While working for Church World Service (CWS), Lesli served as a Disaster Response and Recovery Liaison and Emergency Response Specialist. There she designed and developed recovery tools and training workshops. She provided recovery planning consultation to communities in 15 states and territories, with special emphasis on the diverse faith-community and vulnerable populations.
Lesli holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Defiance College, (Defiance, OH) in Religious Education. She attended the South Florida Center for Theological Studies MDiv Program. As a Religious Educator, Lesli served 6 churches in three different denominations. She is a trained Facilitator in Community Building from the Foundation for Community Encouragement. Lesli has conducted a wide range of workshops in leadership development, educational programming, multi-cultural and environmental ethics. She is the proud mother of two young adults living in Miami, Florida.
