Dr. Renee White, LCSW has many ‘lessons learned’ to share with communities who are recovering from natural disaster, garnered from her experience as the Chairperson of the Joplin Area Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC) and the Chair of the Spiritual/Emotional Committee following the Joplin tornado in May 2011.

Renee White, PhD

Professor of Social Work, Missouri Southern State

For the past 30 years, Renee has been a professional social worker in various fields including: child welfare, medical, death and dying, substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health including a grant-funded, school-based mental health program post disaster.  Her passion lies in community level collaboration and advocacy.  She has been active in over 15 community level non-profits in SWMO.  Renee was a University Professor of Social Work at Missouri State University for seven years and is now a Professor at Missouri Southern State University.  She serves as Vice President of the Jasper County CVOAD and has been a guest speaker at various state and national level conferences.  Renee received an Educational Doctorate from the University of Missouri in 2010.  She currently resides in Joplin, MO.
